1. Who these terms are with
STRGuestReviews.com is operated by NorthStar Data Inc., 306 W Redwood St, Baltimore, MD 21201(“we”). By creating an account you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States.
2. What this service is
STRGuestReviews.com is a place for hosts to record factual, firsthand accounts of stays they have actually hosted. It is not a venue for slander, unsubstantiated claims, or personal disputes. We are not a party to any booking, and we do not verify the accuracy of what users post.
3. Your account
Accounts are confirmed by email. Each account belongs to one individual — no shared or organizational logins. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password secure.
4. Rules for what you post
Post only about stays you personally hosted, and only what you believe to be true. Reviews must be specific, and must be something you would stand behind if the guest read it. Severe allegations require supporting evidence. Honest, good-faith negative reviews are welcome and will not be hidden for their sentiment alone.
You may not post:
- Statements indicating any preference, limitation, or judgment based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, familial status, disability, age, source of income, or any other characteristic protected under federal or applicable state law. This includes indirect references and coded proxies, not only explicit ones. Federal fair-housing law reaches short-term rentals, and we enforce this rule strictly.
- Content you know to be false, or that you have not personally witnessed.
- Threats, harassment, or content intended to intimidate a guest.
- A guest's full contact details, financial information, government identifiers, or any other sensitive personal information beyond what this service asks for.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
Soliciting contact information or feedback from a guest — asking them directly for their email, phone number, or a review — is forbidden and may result in your account being banned. Guest contact details may only be recorded from information you already have from your own stay.
5. Photographs
Only upload a photograph if you took it yourself or have the right to share it, and only where it genuinely helps identify a guest. Do not upload images of children, images taken inside private spaces without consent, or images intended to embarrass rather than identify.
6. Your content, and our licence to it
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it on this service, for as long as we retain it under our Privacy Policy. You confirm you have the right to grant that licence.
7. Moderation and removal
We may hide or remove content that breaks these terms, and may suspend or close accounts, with or without notice. Reviews are hidden rather than permanently deleted so that moderation decisions remain auditable.
If you are a guest and a review about you is inaccurate, go to see and contest your record, or write to legal@strguestreviews.com. We will review it and correct or hide anything we find to be false.
8. What you may not use this service for
This service is for informing your own booking decisions. You may not use it, or anything you find on it, to make or inform decisions about a person's eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing tenancy, or any other purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You may not scrape, bulk-export, or resell the information here, or use it to build a database about individuals.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe material here infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act through our copyright complaints page, or to our designated agent, DMCA, at dmca@northstardatainc.com or NorthStar Data Inc., 306 W Redwood St, Baltimore, MD 21201. Include the information required by 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3). We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. No warranties
This service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any review is accurate, complete, or current.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of this service or from anything posted on it. Our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of content you post or your breach of these terms, including reasonable legal fees.
13. Ending your account
You may close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections 6 and 10 through 14 survive closure.
14. Governing law, and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in a new version number, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept the update.
